Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder 1.5-1-1

Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder is a rich blend of aged humus mixed with essential supplements to form a complete soil builder for various garden applications. It builds a proper soil foundation and enhances vigorous plant growth in your garden, flower beds, and in your landscaping. Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder adds essential organic and biological material that improves your soil’s moisture holding capacity to resist drought and aid in nutrient delivery to your plants, protects roots from pathogens and chemical damage, and promotes beneficial soil organisms to ensure results every time you use it. Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder consists of properly aged humus, aged compost, alfalfa, and humate. Alfalfa meal is a very high quality soil amendment containing Triacontanol, a natural growth stimulant that produces bigger and better plants. Humate aids in the physical modification of soil structure, improving water infiltration and plant quality. Read and follow directions for best results. Not recommended for container or pot planting.

Application

Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder cannot be effectively applied with a domestic fertilizer spreader. To obtain maximum results, rototill or spade mix 6” deep with native soil. Your work will be generously rewarded with super results every time you apply Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder.

Flower Beds, Gardens, & Landscape

1. Add 1 – 3” of Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder to your beds or garden area. See coverage chart for amount of bags needed.
2. Rototill or spade mix to a depth of 6” mixing well with native soil. Rake smooth.
3. Plant seeds or plants, being careful to follow directions on package of seeds or plant tag.
4. Water thoroughly after planting. Keep area moist with daily watering until plants are well established.

Raised Bed Gardening

Raised beds are a great alternative when working clay soils with poor drainage or sandy soils with too much drainage. Raised beds also tend to warm up sooner offering gardeners a head start on the growing season. To make raised beds:
1. Follow the directions for flower beds, gardens, & landscape. Ensure Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder is thoroughly mixed with native soil or Soil Mender Raised Bed Mix 6” deep.
2. Build a border around bed using landscaping timbers, crossties, blocks, hay, or some other medium that will keep soil in the raised bed.
3. Add another 1 – 3” of Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder to bed and mix thoroughly with previous mix. This will make up to a 6” raised bed. For the amount of bags needed, double the listed amount of bags on the coverage rate chart.

Repairing and Filling

Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder is the perfect blend for filling bare and problem spots. Use for filling in low spots or patching bare spots in your landscaping by applying Soil Mender Garden Soil Builder directly to the native soil. When filling low spots, add an extra two(2) inches of soil to low spot to help offset compaction of soil when watered.

Back To Earth Cotton Burr Blend

Back To Earth Cotton Burr Blend consists of composted cotton burrs, composted shredded hardwood and composted feedstock. This makes BTE Cotton Burr Blend an ideal general-purpose mulch for amending clay or sandy soils. This product is available with elemental sulfur to help neutralize high pH soils. This product contains no chemicals, weeds, insects, or harmful pathogens. Soils low in organic matter and humus or with poor tilth and structure cannot be rejuvenated with chemical fertilizers. Back To Earth composts can quickly start improvement of such soils, since it begins to function immediately, restoring vital organic matter and humus to soils, regardless of soil conditions.

Application

Trees & Shrubs

Prepare a hole 1/3 to 1/2 larger than the root ball of the plant or tree. Mix 25% to 50% Back To Earth with existing soil. Backfill hole with prepared mixture making sure root ball is level with ground. Water well, taking care that no air pockets are left around the roots.

Beds & Vegetable Gardens

Spread Back To Earth 2″-3″ thick over entire area to be planted. Turn or till to a depth of 4″-8″ mixing it thoroughly with the existing soil. Plant and water adequately to keep ground moist, not wet.

Mulching

Spread 1″-3″ of Back To Earth around the base of plants, trees, and shrubs. Mulch should be kept a couple of inches away from trunks and stems.

Back To Earth Composted Cattle Manure

Back To Earth Composted Cattle Manure consists of our premium quality Composted Cattle Manure. BTE Composted Cattle Manure is taken to a 3/8″ minus particle size to give you a texture that works great for all general manure applications. This product, when used properly is a non-burning, weed-and-odor-free soil enhancement for gardens, lawns, and landscapes. It is a bountiful source of humus, which feeds beneficial soil organisms, making nutrients more available to plants.

Application

For general applications, use Back To Earth Composted Cattle Manure at the rate of 1 lb. per 10 sq. ft. (100 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.). If the square footage is not known, lightly blaken the soil. The rate may be doubled for poor soils and garden application, or may be reduced for topdressing or when lighter applications are required. If using a cyclone spreader, apply with spreader wide open. This product can also be used when seeding grasses and works great before sodding. *Soil Mender Products recommends using small, multiple applications rather than one large application. Use only as directed.

Soil Mender Soil Mix

Soil Mender Soil Mix is a premium grade compost made from combining our composted cotton burrs with our organic topsoil. This simple blend creates a unique general use compost that will work in nearly any application!
Application

One bag of Soil Mender Soil Mix covers twelve square feet one inch deep.

General Soil Prep

Spread Soil Mix 2” to 3” thick over entire area to be planted. Turn or till to a depth of 4” to 8” mixing it thoroughly with existing soil. Plant and water adequately to keep ground moist, not saturated.

Topdress Existing Lawns

Spread Soil Mix 1/4” to 1/2” thick over entire area. OPTIONAL – Water in if possible.

Raised Beds & Containers

Raised beds and large containers are a great alternative when working clay soils with poor drainage or sandy soils with excessive drainage. Raised beds and large containers also tend to warm up sooner offering gardeners a head start on the growing season. Till the native soil to a depth equal to the height of your selected bed (ex. till four inches deep if you want a four inch high bed). Mix Soil Mender Soil Mix with the native soil to make a 50/50 mix. One bag of Soil Mender Soil Mix covers twelve square feet one inch deep.

Raised Beds – Build a border around bed using landscaping timbers, crossties, blocks, hay, or some other medium that will keep soil in the raised bed. Fill the bed with Soil Mix or Soil Mender Raised Bed Mix and plant.

Containers – Fill the container with Soil Mix and plant.
